Secret Agent Man

Johnny Rivers provided the opening theme to the U.S. edition of Secret Agent, starring Patrick McGoohan.  “Secret Agent Man”‘s lyrics, “They’ve given you a number and taken ‘way your name” are said to have inspired McGoohan for his next series, The Prisoner.

    In the Man From Uncle they all wore numbered badges when inside their underground HQ. Mr. Waverley was Number One. I think Napoleon Solo might have been Number Two.
