President Taft’s Thanksgiving Proclamation
By the President of the United States of America. A Proclamation, November 5, 1910.
This year of 1910 is drawing to a close. The records of population and harvests, which are the index of progress, show vigorous national growth and the health and prosperous well-being of our communities throughout this land and in our possessions beyond the seas. These blessings have not descended upon us in restricted measure, but overflow and abound. They are the blessings and bounty of God.
We continue to be at peace with the rest of the world. In all essential matters our relations with other peoples are harmonious, with an ever growing reality of friendliness and depth of recognition of mutual dependence. It is especially to be noted that during the past year great progress has been achieved in the case of arbitration and the peaceful settlement of international disputes.
Now therefore I, William Howard Taft, President of the United States of America, in accordance with the wise custom of the civil magistrates since the first settlement in this land and with the rule established from the foundation of this Government, do appoint Thursday, November 24, 1910, as a day of national thanksgiving and prayer, enjoining the people upon that day to meet in their churches for the praise of the Almighty God and to return heartfelt thanks to Him for all His goodness and loving kindness.

Photos from The Great Con-junction, November 13, 2022
The world of Thra came to the Hilton in Universal City, California the weekend of November 12-13. It was the Great Con-junction, sponsored by Thames Con, with participation by The Jim Henson Company, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of The Dark Crystal.
Opportunities for photos with the cast and crew abounded, from both the original movie and the sequel on Netflix, The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance.
Lisa Maxwell and Stephen Garlick, the voices of the Gelflings Kira and Jen, had tables in the Dealer’s Room and, for a price, allowed themselves to be photographed, as they did with me here:
There was also a Henson Museum on site, from which I took the following photos.
One display showed Baby Yoda’s older sister and Supreme Leader Snoke’s grandson:
There were also expensive group photos with fans of the original Dark Crystal cast and crew and Age of Resistance cast and crew. Here’s one with the originals preparing for their own shot.
More to come!

Kate Mulgrew on STAR TREK: PRODIGY
On October 8, 2022, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kate Mulgrew on behalf of Animation Scoop, to call attention to the second half of the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy. Star Trek: Voyager fans know her as Captain Kathryn Janeway. In Prodigy, she’s now Vice Admiral Janeway, and also Hologram Janeway, guiding a group of misfit adolescents aboard an experimental starship, U.S.S. Protostar. We talked via Zoom for four minutes. The transcript of our interview is posted online at Animation Scoop here.
Paramount+ was gracious enough to supply videos of the interviews. Note how charming and professional Kate Mulgrew is. I was thrilled to speak with her. (If you find the video uploading slowly, click on the YouTube icon to watch it directly there.)
The second half of Season One of Star Trek: Prodigy began streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, October 27.
